Spring Valley Gravel Racers, are you ready to roll?! We’re just days away from our year 15 rollout from historic downtown Spring Valley where racers will be challenged by the “grandaddy” of all gravel race routes. For 100-milers, we’re currently a go on the river crossing, I’ll check on Mother Nature’s work just prior to race day and will post a bypass route if necessary. 60-milers, the rivers you’ll be crossing will be via bridges.
Reminder, the historic Forestville State Park Bridge has been removed and we’ll be using the bypass route again this year. Both 2024 race routes, 100 and 60-mile, are available on the SV EDA race site and RideWithGPS.
While the Golden Rule is: these are self-supported races, carry what you need to get you from Start to Finish lines, the SV Gravel Race Angels have let me know they plan on setting up a pit stop at the Cherry Grove Community Center again this year…that’s at mile 75. There is a modern restroom at Cherry Grove. 60-milers, Cherry Grove is not on your route. Be sure to thank the hosts, they’ve popped up a tent the past three years, and it’s always a welcome sight to see what they’ve gathered from local business and laid out on their tables for racers to enjoy.
In addition to the existing fast food and sit down restaurant choices for post-ride grazing, Bluff Brothers Brewing, a new microbrew in town, will have a food truck on location with plenty of seating. Start and finish will still be from historic downtown Spring Valley with bib number distro available the night before, 4-6 pm, and the morning of, 0630-0730, at the SV Community Center on Main Street across from City Hall. Complimentary Day-of Parking is available at the City Gravel Lot adjacent to the Finish Line at Willow Park.
We’re looking forward to seeing you all at the Start and Finish lines. Bring a friend. Anyone interested in volunteering at the Finish Line, please reach out to me, pvogel3634@gmail.com
If you are planning on camping the night before, the City has a campground, which we pass by just before the trout ponds as we near the finish line. Reach out to City Hall to reserve a site, some have power, some do not.
